Definition, Aim and Organisation

Art in Ditchling is a community of artists, makers and art promoters who are
permanent residents and/or have studios or venues in Ditchling, Westmeston
and Streat.

Aim

To promote the work and activity of this community.

Organisation

There will be two Officers of the organisation:

  • The Chairperson
  • The Treasurer

A representative group – The Steering Committee – to facilitate
decisions and short-term action, comprising:

  • Chairperson
  • Treasurer
  • Festival AiD representatives (x2)
  • Venue representatives (x2)

These appointments to be proposed and seconded at the Annual
Meeting.

Terms & Conditions

(for the sake of brevity the term ‘artist’ below applies to all creative disciplines
and media)

  1. Art in Ditchling Trails are open to any venue in Ditchling, Westmeston or Streat, where the host is an artist or arts promoter who is permanently resident or works in these Beacon Parishes.
  2. The host of such venues may invite guest exhibitors from outside the area.
  3. Each venue may only show up to six artists’ work, including the host’s, other than by application.
  4. All venues must register with the Festival organisation, eg Artists Open House or ArtWave Festival.
  5. There will be a Trail fee for each venue payable to Art in Ditchling, either for 1-3 exhibitors or 4-6 exhibitors.
    This entitles the venue to:
    a. Listing on the Art in Ditchling website
    b. Listing and promotion on the Art in Ditchling Instagram site
    c. Listing on any Art in Ditchling Trail flyer and map.
    Other promotional opportunities will be funded separately.
  6. Venues or artists eligible to be part of Art in Ditchling, but have not registered with a Festival organisation, who wish to be included on the Art in Ditchling Trail website may do so at the discretion of the Steering Committee and on payment of a fee.
  7. Local business looking to advertise or sponsor Art in Ditchling pay a minimum fee which entitles them to the following:
    a. Listing on the Art in Ditchling website (link to their website)
    b. Listing on any Art in Ditchling Trail flyer/map
    c. Listing as a sponsor in the AOH or other Festival brochure.
  8. All artists, makers and arts promoters who are eligible to be part of Art in Ditchling are welcome to attend Art in Ditchling meetings, but in making decisions relevant to a particular Trail, there is only one vote per venue participating in that Trail.
  9. All fees will be reviewed annually.
